Sabino High School's head wrestling coach Mike McKendrick will host a June 13-16 wrestling camp in Tucson through the Sabino Wrestling Club.

The All-American Wrestling Camp (AAWCS) is nationally recognized, and brings some of the best national and international talent to locations across the country.

The camp is titled "Can You Take the Heat?" and features the new Sabino Sabercat facility that has room for three competition mats.

Coaches from the Naval Academy will appear.

"We're really excited about bringing the All-American Midshipman program to the Tucson area," said Sabino Athletic Director Bill Taylor.

The AAWCS camps emphasize work ethic and positive reinforcement.

"Our coaches pay close attention to each wrestler and make sure they improve at their own level," said Todd Beckerman, who developed the concept and the camps.

Beckerman is a two time All-American from the University of Nebraska and is an Esoir National Freestyle Champion.

He now coaches at the Naval Academy.

Registration is now open to all 7-12 grade athletes, and the cost for the three day camp is only $100.

Coaches can attend for free with a minimum of three wrestlers.

Check out www.summerwrestlingcamps.com or contact McKendrick at 603-3055.

The deadline is May 15 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
