News > Top StoriesTohono Chul Park in Tucson is hosting a Spring Concert Series. Enjoy four peaceful Thursday evenings under the stars at 7 p.m. with some of the area's best musicians. The Tohono Chul Park Tea Room will remain open for dinner, serving from its regular menu, on these dates, too, taking reservations for all parties. Cost per concert is $5 for members or children, and $10 for non-members. Series passes include four concerts for $15 for members or children, and $35 for non-members. To conserve resources, these concerts are "ticketless"--a checklist is at the main gate. To reserve a spot, call 742-6455 x 0 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or visit the admissions window daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Performing April 21 will be Chris Burton J‡come on flamenco guitar. J‡come studied this craft in Spain and plays a combination of classic and original songs including "Motivaci—n," which won third in the World Music Category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest among 25,000 entries. On May 5, it's Harp Duo with Dr. Carrol McLaughlin and Kelly Cousineau. McLaughlin normally directs HarpFusion, the largest group of performing harpist in the world. In this special concert, McLaughlin will perform classical and jazz harp pieces with her daughter and student, Kelly Cousineau. Performing May 19 will be Ronstadt, Ramirez and the Santa Cruz River Band. Enjoy Southwestern folk music at its best, fondly referred to as "Mexibilly!" Michael J. Ronstadt, Ted Ramirez and the Santa Cruz River Band's new album of Southwestern folk music is rated a "Scorcher" by the Tucson Citizen. Conjunto Nopal will perform June 2. This is the first TCP performance by this highly-recommended regional musical favorite, but you'll love their traditional mixture of polka and corridos (similar to Waila, the traditional Tohono O'odham music). Tohono Chul Park is at 7366 N. Paseo del Norte, one stoplight west of the intersection of Ina and Oracle roads. Admission to the Park is free for members and children 4 and under, $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (62-plus), $3 for students with valid ID, and $2 for children ages 5 - 12. Plus the first Tuesday of every month is a no-admission-fee day. For more information on the park, call (520) 742-6455.
