News > Top StoriesGREEN VALLEY--La Posada will host the "Spring Spin" this month, a free bicycle safety event meant as preparation for the Tour de Trauma, a charity bike race coming to Green Valley in 2006. Cyclists of all ages are invited to the event, scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the campus of La Posada, 350 E. Morningside Road in Green Valley. "All you need is your bike and safety helmet," said organizer Arleen Boyuls. The event will feature free food, free bike inspections by Green Valley Bike & Hike, bike safety information, vendors and booths, and raffle prizes--including a new bike, helmets, and other items. Co-sponsored by the Southern Arizona Trauma Network (SATNET), the event is considered a preamble to a major bicycling event planned for 2006 in Green Valley. Still in the planning stages, the Tour de Trauma is expected to draw riders from around the area in an effort to raise money for trauma care, Boyuls said. This month's event will follow the official dedication, planned for Thursday, April 21, of a new local bicycle/multipurpose lane.
