John L. Varanelli, 71,

died March 2, 2005, at the Tucson VA Hospital. Born in Elkhart, Ind. on Nov. 6, 1933, John was a Green Valley resident for 8 years.

He was in the USMC, loved golfing and bowling. He lived in Elkhart where he owned and operated "Big John's."

He is survived by his wife Lollie, whom he married on July 24, 1954, daughters Michelle Whitmyer of Elkhart, and Diane Weirich of Indianapolis, John R. (Linda) of Elkhart, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mass was held at Our Lady of the Valley. Memorial services will be held in Elkhart at a later date. Donations may be made in John's honor to the American Diabetic Assn. or the American Heart Assn.
