News > Top StoriesThe backhoe was described as yellow with a hole in the front windshield. There are no suspects. The deputy began following the truck at Interstate 19 and Continental Road because it had no taillights. When the deputy tried to pull the truck over, it sped up and tried to get away, heading north on Old Nogales Highway. The truck stopped suddenly next to the railroad tracks near Mile Post 46, and the driver and more than a dozen passengers, including many who were hiding prone in the truck's bed, attempted to flee. The driver was not arrested, but 14 illegal migrants were taken into custody and handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol. The truck was discovered to have been stolen from the University of Arizona. The above information is gleaned from police reports and interviews with law enforcement officials. thull@gvnews.com |625-5511 x22
